If you really need convincing...
Shakespeare wisely wrote “If music be the food of love, play on”, and this treat aims to echo those sentiments by enabling the musicians of Canterbury to carry on creating music after the devastating earthquakes which have hit the city.
The NZ Music Commission in association with Christchurch Music Industry Charitable Trust (CHART) and the REAL NZ Festival compiled and produced ‘Love Christchurch’ – a compilation of Canterbury artists to raise funds for a central rehearsal space for Christchurch. Now you can get a copy of the CD delivered to your door for a small donation.
100% of the funds raised go towards building and operating a rehearsal space in Christchurch, to help the city’s musicians get back on their feet. So not only are you getting a special compilation of Christchurch music, you’ll be doing your bit towards keeping the Christchurch music scene pumping.
The CD includes 19 tracks from a range of Christchurch artists.
As you can see above, some great artists have come out of Christchurch, and there will be plenty more to come if the team behind this project can raise money to build a dedicated rehearsal space for Canterbury musicians.
Why not give someone the gift of music while giving the Christchurch music industry a helping hand.
The album would not have happened without the generous support of the artists involved. Love Christchurch features the exceptional talents of: Ladi6 – Salmonella Dub – The Eastern – The Unfaithful Ways – Cairo Knife Fight – Dukes – Lindon Puffin – Psych Tigers – Von Voin Strum – Von Klap – Lupus Lunar – The Bats – Delaney Davidson – T54 – Sleeping Dogs – The Easy Hearts – Hera – Switch Sanchez Nacoa feat. Sacha Vee – Mr Squatch
The Love Christchurch compilation was made possible with funding from the NZ2011 Lottery Fund and the REAL NZ Festival and was compiled for the New Zealand Music Commission by Rodney Hewson, Jeff Fulton and the dedicated CHART team.
All proceeds raised will go to CHART, to inject the funds directly into infrastructure projects to benefit the local Christchurch music community.
